Spicy Cherry Tomato Shots

Almost a deconstructed Bloody Mary, but fair warning; these are potent!
Rinse and stem as many cherry tomatoes as you would like to serve.
Skewer on cocktail picks and set aside.
Mix a tablespoon of Kosher or coarse sea salt with 1/4 to 1/2 teaspoon of cayenne, or other ground hot pepper such as hot paprika or Piment d'Espelette; place on a small saucer.
Choose small glasses, just large enough to hold the cherry tomatoes, and dip the rims only in a very shallow saucer of water or lemon juice, then dip the rims in the saucer of spicy salt, turning to covered evenly.
At this point you can chill the salt rimmed glasses in the refrigerator or freezer until serving time.
Place the skewered tomatoes in the glasses and pour icy cold vodka over the tomatoes.
Add a celery stick to each glass if desired.
Enjoy!
Tip: Keep the vodka bottle in the freezer if you don't want to bother chilling it over
ice in a cocktail shaker.

  4. These are so nice presented this way. They remind me very much of a recipe my Mom used to make, which I still do, called Bloody Mary on a stick. But I've never served them in a rimmed glass. Thanks so much for the idea. I will do i that way next time. You have some of the best ideas!
