It's not pretty.
But what this soup lacks in good looks, it more than compensates for in flavor.
Drop dumplings are my favorite because that's the kind we always had in my family. I don't add dumplings to soups or stews very often but the chillier, damp weather seems to call out for a revved up, more substantial soup and this one is perfect.
Since I don't make them very often, when I do I want them to be perfect; light and not doughy, and very flavorful. Like these I made recently ~ fresh herbs (thyme and a little sage), with plenty of freshly minced parsley and freshly ground black pepper.
It's a once in a while indulgence that tastes soo good!If you would like a printable copy of how to make it, pleasevisit my recipe blog; HERE.Thank you for coming by today!
Oh, I think it's pretty! I love dumplings, I don't make them often enough!
ReplyDeleteOOOOOh doesn't that look good. There is nothing I like better than a beef or chicken stew with dumplings. Great idea to add them to soup.
ReplyDeleteFall is the perfect time for dumpling soup, ymmm! I'm going to try your recipe, it looks beautiful, and great recipe to have on hand with left over turkiey! Thank-you
ReplyDeleteHi Mari,
ReplyDeleteLol ok you make me laugh. "This is not pretty". Perhaps it's because everything you do is so beautiful that when something looks all bunched together it is no longer aesthetically pleasing to you. It is hard to beat a French salad in beauty!
I think it's a beautiful turkey dumpling soup.

ReplyDeleteMary..nothing you could make could be qualified as Not Pretty.
ReplyDeleteI think it depends on your definition of pretty...homemade soup is always pretty to me. It looks wonderful.
