Tablescape Thursday ~ April 9, 2009

Welcome in! It's breakfast in the garden again ~ The camellias are just coming into bloom so I thought it would be nice to take our meal in the Camellia Garden for Tablescape Thursday this week.

Before we begin, I would like to send out a big bouquet of THANKS to dear, sweet and very talented Susan of Between Naps on the Porch for hosting this fun event each week.
Please click the title of Susan's blog above, the link will take you to her fabulous blog where you can link to this weeks participants.

I have lots of pictures to share this week~ I've been looking forward to your visit ~
Please come right in!

I've set an enormous platter atop the heavy, vintage iron table for us this morning. The platter is by Tracy Porter, I believe I got it at TJMaxx for the bargain price of $20. about a year ago.

We're having a very simple breakfast ~ light and easy~ (very easy!!)

A soft cooked egg in one of the little Bordallo Pinheiro (Portuguese Majolica) egg cup chicks. I got about a dozen of them several years ago on ebay for a very good price point; much less than buying them individually.

To go with the soft cooked egg, instead of the usual toast 'soldiers', lightly blanched and ice water shocked asparagus, to stop the cooking, an old Julia Child tip. Perfection! They are still tender, yet firm ~ my favorite way of cooking asparagus. I warmed them after the ice water bath to serve with the egg.

Whole Wheat Toast points with butter curls.
The toast rack is English Sterling Silver from 1864-1870.

The little English Chintz nut dish which hold the butter curls is from the 1930's.

And I made some fresh, homemade Strawberry jam for you, if you'd care for some on your toast. Served in another piece of vintage Chintz. The porcelain spoon is a modern piece, I've had for a couple of years.

The small dish beneath the individual crystal salt and pepper shakers is also vintage English Chintz, the pattern is Somerset; by Grimwades, Royal Winton Ivory.
As many of you know old chintz commands royal prices these days; when it was first introduced it was considered very affordable everyday ware. *sigh*

Beverages this morning are a nice fruity hot tea, and a healthy Marionberry Smoothie.

A vintage bone china, English teacup and saucer, featuring one of my favorite garden flowers; Digitalis, commonly known as Foxglove. It always reminds me of an English Cottage garden.

Thank you so much for stopping by ~
It has been my pleasure!

I hope you've enjoyed your little peek into the garden.
Please come back and visit often~
