Monday

Forever in Our Hearts

We adopted Cinnamon from the Humane Society when she was about a year old.  That was a little over 10 years ago.

Such a sweetie.

Relishing a favorite once-in-a-while treat.

As my family and some of you know,  she passed away a week ago today after a rather sudden illness.

Her Vet suspected it was an auto-immune disease, so we had been treating her for that for a few weeks, that's why I've been away from the blog-world; for family time.

In spite of our best efforts, and her valiant fight, she succumbed at midnight on Monday June 13th.

We were fortunate to have spent all day on both Sunday and Monday with her while she was resting outdoors with us as we worked in her favorite flower garden.

'Cinnie's Garden'

We're thankful we were with her when she passed, and thankful that she was able to pass in the familiar surroundings and security of home.

She will be greatly missed as she was a family member to us,  my constant companion, a very good dog who fit into our life and lifestyle like a glove.

Gone, but not forgotten.

Rest well Cinnie-girl, my pal.

  1. What a beautiful dog! And what a joy she must have been to your family. I have experienced the death of our beloved dog, too, who was a treasured member of our family.

    It rocks your world forever.

May you always remember the good days and may those sweet memories sustain you through the difficult days ahead.

  3. Oh, she really looked like she was a great companion. I love those bigger kinds of dogs, with their sweet eyes and gentle heart. She probably had an amazing life in your care.

  4. Thank you Elizabeth.

Of the wonderful dogs we've had to say goodbye to over the years, this has been the roughest. Probably because I've been at home all the time with her and not working outside of the home. We were together every day 24/7 . . . there are big empty spaces without her. It will get better with time, I know.

I love the big dogs too; she would only bark when sounding an alarm, she would eat from your hand using only her lips, not her teeth, so gentle. She made me feel safe out here away from the city, and kept my feet warm on many a cold, rainy or snowy night . . . a very good girl.

((hugs)) and thank you for your kindness.

  14. Mari,
I'm sooo sorry about Cinnamon. She was a beautiful member of your family and I know she will be missed...and definitely never forgotten. We love our furbabies. It was many months before I quit expecting to see Jake, my Golden Retriever, around every corner. Only time seems to help. Cinnamon sounded very sweet and very special...a real love.
    Big hugs sent your way,
    Susan

  23. I.m so sorry Mari.. unfortunately I know how you feel because my dog passed away 1 month ago.. he was 19 years old and he was all my life.
This rainbow bridge poem for you:
When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.
All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor. Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.
They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent. His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

    lots of love.. ana.

  26. I am so sorry to hear of the loss of your beloved dog. They are so special and such a big part of the family that a huge void is left when they leave us. We're in between dogs at the moment, but even though the loss causes such terrible pain, I wouldn't hesitate to start all over again. Dogs are special creatures.

  27. Pattie, you've expressed it so well. We cannot replace the one we loved, but we can find another who needs us. Thank you for such a supportive and positive suggestion. xoxo

  28. Mari, I am so, so sorry for your great loss. She was a beautiful dog, in heart as well as her dear face. Our family lost our precious Kipper last November after a sudden illness. he was just shy of 10. They leave such a painful void but only because they are such a huge prt of our hearts, our homes, our families. They give us so, so much but the memories they leave us are priceless. Hold those tightly and she will never really leave you...sending you an understaning hug. You will be in my prayers.
    Love,
    Sue
